Fiat India has launched its new Linea with many design and cosmetic uplifts. This facelift version of the company’s flagship sedan gets a new restyled grille and bumpers and the noticeable changes in the interiors lends it a fresh look. The car comes in three petrol and three diesel models and carries a price tag in the range of Rs.7.14-9.93 lakh.

Engine and performance

The new Linea has both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version is powered by a 1.4 litre T-Jet engine that is capable of generating 112 bhp at 5000 rpm and a peak torque of 207 Nm at 2200 rpm. The diesel power train is a 1.3 litre Multijet engine with Variable Geometry Turbo charger and it delivers a maximum power of 92 bhpat 4000 rpm and 209 Nm of torque. Five-speed manual transmission powers the front wheels. The company claims that the petrol version returns a mileage of 15.7 Kmpl and the diesel model delivers 20.4 kmpl. The company offers good acceleration and pick up and the car touches the100 kmph mark in 13.8 seconds.


The New Fait Linea sports a brand new design and style and boasts of strong and robust build quality. On the outside it is gorgeous. The new model offers more chrome, a redesigned grille with new headlamps and front fascia. Overall, the front looks more aggressive and sculpted. The fog lamp housing with its new design too adds to its elegance. The grille sports thick chrome surround and the company logo is fitted on to it. In the rear too, there is a lot of chrome used extensively. The redesigned taillight cluster is fitted with high intensity lights and indicators. The boot gets a slight tweak and comes with a thick chrome strip. The new rear bumper has a protective cladding as well. The side profile almost remains unchanged with the exception of the tweaked external mirror caps.


The interiors of the car look more attractive thanks to the dual tone color scheme and the sleek design of the dashboard and the central console. The two tone soft-touch dashboard features a bold new instrument cluster. The central console features AC vent, infotainment system and the control buttons. The steering wheel remains the same except for a touch of silver. The gear liver, climate control knobs and door pads look similar to the current one. The multimedia system gets USB, blue-tooth and AUX-in. The seats are comfortable and well cushioned. Premium leather upholstery is used in top models where as base and mid level models come with fabric upholstery. Other features include leather wrapped steering wheels, new instrument panel, two glove boxes, power windows, 12 v accessory power socket and 50 litre boot space.

Features and specifications

The car comes a wide range of safety and security features. The advanced disc baring system works well in all conditions and the robust suspension system ensures stability. Handling is easy and power steering is responsive and precise. Other key features include dual front air-bags, ABS with EBD, fire prevention system, engine immobilizer, double crank prevention system, front and rear fog lamps, programmable headlights and driver seat belt warning system.

The new-look Linea is all set to rivals the likes of Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and even Honda City in the C-segment
