Ford Endeavour Variants
Ford Endeavour • Price, Variants & Specifications
Ford Everest entered the Indian markets as Ford Endeavour in 2003. The new-gen model was first revealed in Australia in 2013, as the Everest Concept, and later at Bangkok Motor Show in 2014. The upcoming New Endeavour bears a striking resemblance to these models, just the alloy wheels are new. Several markets will get this new launch- India, China, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. It is expected to hit the showrooms this year. Chances are high that buyers will have to wait till the end of 2015. The company might consider assembling the vehicle in India and also export it elsewhere.
Ford New Endeavour • Price, Variants & Specifications
The price is expected to lie in the range Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. The company has brought about some modifications to improve the off-roading capabilities of the vehicle. It is equipped with a new four-wheel drive system and will come with two engine options. Also, manual and automatic gearboxes might be replaced with a new transmission.
Expected Price view Rs. 20 lakh - 25 lakh
The styling is very much similar to the model that the automakers had showcased earlier. The front has three-part grille and an attractive bumper- with under-guard flowing onto in and then merging into the fog lamps. The headlights are small and look sweptback. The front windshield is raked, the roof-line gently slopes, the window-line is up-swept and some body sculpting is visible close to the bottom of the doors. The rear features new spoiler- that is different from the spoiler that was seen on the concept model. The remaining design resembles the concept- prominent split tail-lamps, chrome garnish and the number plate holder that is mounted on the bootlid.
It is likely that the interior will draw inspiration from the Ford pickup truck F-105. Hence, the cabin will have the multimedia setup SYNC2. The infotainment system has 8-inch touchscreen.
Features and Specifications
Ford will offer different engines for India and for the rest of the countries. Globally, the New Endeavour will come with two type of engines, both of which are diesel. The first one is 4-cylinder 2.2 liter, while the second one is 5-cylinder 3.2 liter engine. Coming to the Indian model, buyers have two choices- 2.5 liter or 2.0 liter, both diesel. Currently, the company uses automatic gearbox and existing 5-speed manual. These might be replaced with 6-speed transmission in order to enhance the vehicles cruising performance and efficiency as well.
Ford has added a new feature- the ladder frame chassis to improve Endeavour’s off-roading capabilities. The drivability too has been enhanced with the independent and new coil-spring layout that is present in the rear. This feature replaces the leaf spring setup that is present in the current model. The most prominent change is ‘Terrano Response’- which the new four-wheel drive system offered by the company. It will adjust engine torque, traction control and the other elements that will make the vehicle capable of delivering a superb off-road performance.
