Mahindra and Mahindra Limited launched Scorpio in 2002. Several versions of the model have been introduced since launch and last year saw a facelift. Currently available in six variants, Scorpio is an ideal choice for people who want every
aspect to be good – performance, looks and convenience.
The Sport utility vehicle comes with 2.2-liter mHAWK diesel engine rated 120 bhp, 280 Nm which is tractable and accompanied by a slick-shifting gearbox. A fuel efficiency of 15.4 km/liter adds to the efficiency of the car.
The exterior of Scorpio gets several elements that give it an all-together aggressive look – projector headlamps, freshly designed chrome grille, smart layout for alloy wheels and carefully designed bumpers with fog lamps. A sophisticated touch to the body of Scorpio is given by - black dual tone applique for the rear door, chrome bezel on fenders and road bumper armour.
An able competitor is Renault Duster that offers i-Drive Technology and also shorter gear ratios. Mahindra Scorpio’s powertrain is better as compared to Duster’s 109 bhp. Scorpio is definitely beefier with its greater proportions, thus helping it make a more dynamic road presence than Renault Duster. Also, Duster is a five-seater whereas Scorpio can comfortably accommodate seven people.
What customers find gripping in the exterior is the pronounced creases on the bonnet and smart looking five-spoke rims. In the interior, buttons mounted on the steering wheel have a very tactile feel. Customers have loved useful features like the audio/navigation system. Owners advice the company to change the uncomfortable position of aux and USB ports.
