Mini Cooper [2011-2014] • Price, Variants & Specifications
BMW launched the Mini Cooper in India in January 2012. This is certainly one of the best options for people who are looking for something that is a hatchback, but provides them with the luxuries of a sedan. The car looks quite funky as well- it is certainly different looking than most of the models that can be found in India. It can be compared with the Volkswagen Beetle when it comes to the looks department. The Mini Cooper sells for around Rs 25,00,000.
Engine & Peformance
The Mini Cooper hatchback is available only in a petrol variant. The petrol variant of the car comes with a V6 engine that delivers around 122 horse power at 6000 rpm, and around 160 Nm of torque. The car has a displacement of 1598 cc. The hatchback does not deliver much in the field of fuel efficiency, which is certainly a pity. In fact, the average mileage provided by the car is very low. It only provides around 6.4 kmpl as mileage, which is very little. The car, however, does come with variable valave timing, which has enhanced the fuel efficiency of the car by a marginal amount. The car is capable of going from 0-100 kmph in just 10.4 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is 197kmph.
The car is easily recognizable. It has interesting exteriors. In fact, the Mini Cooper has a vintage look to it. It is quite cute and funky looking. The car has a lot of curves and bulges and it is easy to see all of them. The headlights of the car are round in shape and they are powered by Bi- Xenon so they are quite strong as well. The indicator lights on the car are also quite good. The grille is hexagon shaped and it comes with 3 chrome slats. The body coloured bumper, ORVM and car handles are also quite good looking. The car has clear, round fog lamps and a black air dam as well. The car has wing mirrors that are topped by some chequered graphics, which makes the car look really interesting from the side. The rear fog lights come with chrome tipped tail lamp that is incredibly good looking. The rear wiper is also really small. The car is incredibly cute looking- in fact, this is probably going to be one of the main reasons people buy this car.
The car has pretty good interiors. The car has a large speedometer with an entertainment system (which is an optional addition- you should certainly consider getting it). The dashboard looks like it belongs in an aircraft! It comes in two contrasting colours in order to give it an interesting look. The seats and upholstery of the Mini Cooper can be selected by the customer from the options offered by the company itself. The car can seat five people, but that might be a little uncomfortable. This car is best for seating 4 people. The rear seats of the car are really comfortable as well. The people in the rear also get abundant space for the legs. The steering wheel comes leather wrapped. All the upholstery is made out of leather.
Features & Specifications
The car does come with a wide range of features. You will get adjustable seats (both height and the incline can be adjusted), automatic air conditioning, integration odour filter, hi- fi sound system, high end communication system, etc. The car also comes fitted with a radio system that has a super high resolution and display as well. The electrical power assist in the dashboard of the car ensures that your steering remains comfortable for you. There are plenty of places for you to store your personal effects as well. The car comes with the standard safety features- ABS, EBD, CBC, rigid collapsible steering, hill assist function, etc.
This is a really good looking car that does offer a fair range of features. The price and the mileage might cause a little bit of a problem, though.
