A school teacher in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district has proposed a campaign to plant saplings in the name of toppers in all classes for encouraging environment conservation in a novel way.
After the sapling is planted, name plates of meritorious students will be installed at the site, said teacher K.N. Gupta, who was conferred the President's Award by former president A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
He is all set to launch the campaign named 'Ek Medha-Ek Podha' in the entire district.
The planted saplings will be nurtured by the classmates of the meritorious students along with the school management.
"If each and every school extends its cooperation, then around 20,000-25,000 saplings are expected to be planted this year," Gupta said.
The proposal through Rajgarh district collector was being sent to the chief minister and the education minister of Madhya Pradesh with a view to implementing this scheme in the entire state, he said.
