In a step towards promoting e-governance, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday inaugurated the state's first e-collectorate in North 24 Parganas district.

Soon after coming to power in May, the Banerjee government had unveiled an ambitious policy of e-governance to ensure efficiency and transparency in functioning.

Briefing mediapersons after a meeting with top district officials and several state ministers in this district headquarters, Banerjee said: "We had discussions on a number of issues including the 100 days work, rehabilitation of Aila victims."

Cyclone Aila had hit India and Bangladesh May 25, 2009, killing 138 people in West Bengal alone.

Banerjee assured the people that their problems relating to infrastructure and administration will be addressed and said she will come back after three-to-four months to take stock of the situation.
