Automobile major Mahindra and Mahindra Friday said it will re-open bookings of its new sports utility vehicle (SUV)-- XUV5OO in January 2012.
"The XUV5OO had received over 8,000 bookings in just 10 days (since its launch). Mahindra had sold out four months production of the XUV5OO and had deferred new bookings since Oct 11," the company said in a statement.
According to the statement, the company expects to complete deliveries of last bookings by January, 2012.
"The production for the XUV5OO is as per schedule and the company is also in the process of ramping up production at its plant in Chakan (plant) which will enable it to re-open bookings next month," the statement added.
The car was launched on Sep 29 with an introductory price ranging from Rs.10.8 lakh to Rs.12.88 lakh (ex-showroom price Delhi).
The car has three variants, all in diesel, and offers the option of a four-wheel drive.
All the three variants of the car are produced at the company's Chakan plant, located on the outskirts of Pune with an initial capacity of 2,000 units per month.
