The Duster remains one of the most popular SUVs in the Indian market since its launch in 2012 and is doubtless the best offering of the French auto maker in India. However, in face of the stiff competition offered by the Ford Ecosport, Renault has decided to launch a facelift version. It was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013 followed by the Delhi Motor Show in 2014. The car is expected to arrive in the market by August 2015.
Renault Duster (Facelift): price, variant and specifications
The facelift version of the Renault Duster is expected to be priced between Rs. 8 lakhs and Rs. 12.5 lakhs. In addition to the current version of the petrol and diesel engine offered by the Duster, the facelift version is expected to be equipped with a new petrol version which will rival the Ford EcoBoost. This is a 1.2 liter TCe engine that can generate a maximum power of 124 PS and a peak torque of 204 Nm. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and the power may be sent either to all the wheels or only the front ones. Apart from this, the Duster will come with the currently existing 1.5 liter diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 84 PS and another version generating 110 PS. They will generate a peak torque of about 200 Nm and 240 Nm respectively. The 1.6 liter petrol version generates a power of 102 PS and a peak torque of 145 Nm. It is mated to a five-speed manual transmission while the diesel versions are mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The Renault Duster has retained its signature squatting stance with flared wheel arches in this facelift version. However, the front fascia has been redesigned. The front grille and the headlamps get a refreshed look and the air intakes in the front get a new look. The facelift version gets new front and rear scruff plates. The rear assembly has got some minor tweaks and the rear diffuser assembly gets integrated exhaust pipes. However, the most marked change is the modification in the roof rails to increase the support.
Most of the interior remains the same in the facelift version as in the original model. The new car gets greater options in seat upholstery and power window switches. The central console also gets a redesigned look. The car will have a fire extinguisher and the navigation pack will be offered as standard in the RXZ variant. The overall seat configuration and the boot area remain unchanged.
Features and specifications
The facelift version of the Renault Duster comes with a number of advanced features. These include an advanced infotainment system, electronic stability control, dual front airbags, cruise control with speed limiter and rear park assist. However it remains to be seen how many of these updates are made available in the Indian version of the car.
