Skoda discontinued its Octavia model in India in 2010 and as of now Skoda sells the following models in India - Skoda Laura, Skoda Fabia, Skoda Superb and Skoda Yeti. Of these Skoda Laura and Skoda Fabia are manufactured in India whereas Skoda Superb and Yeti are imported. Skoda chose a unique pricing strategy when it launched its first model in India - its petrol and diesel engine varients were priced the same rather than premium pricing the diesel varient.
Skoda India is a fully owned subsidiary of Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda Auto. Skoda India was established in the year 2001 and ever since the launch of its first model, the Skoda Octavia, the company has been doing good business in India. Its stylish looks, high fuel efficiency and affordable pricing made Skoda Octavia an instant hit in India. Skoda has two manufacturing facility in India, one near Aurangabad and another near Pune with it shares with Volkswagon. Though Skoda cars are praised for their performance, comfort, efficiency and driving experience, one criticism Skoda faces is its high maintenance cost. It is said that Skoda cars are said to be expensive to own and maintain.
