Tata Indigo CS • Price, Variants & Specifications
The Tata Indigo is a really stylish sedan released by India's largest car manufacturer, Tata. The Indigo is the company's second bestselling car, following the Tata Indica range of cars. The Tata Indigo CS was launched in 2011 and it has been released in around 9 variants so far. This is quite a compact sedan- but its compactness is only in relation to its size and not to its features. This is quite a stylish reboot to Tata's older sedans and it has seen high amount of success in the Indian markets.
Engine & Performance
The Tata Indigo comes in a variety of engine specifications. Both petrol and diesel engines are available. The petrol engine is capable of delivering around 15 kmpl as mileage within the city limits and it can deliver around 18.0 kmpl on the highways. The CRDi diesel engine variants can provide a mileage of 22 kmpl within the city limits and around 25 kmpl on the highways. The CRDi engine has a displacement of around 1396cc and it can delivers around 70PS of power and it can generate a maximum torque of around 140 Nm. The BSIII engine, on the other hand can provide a maximum torque of 135 Nm. The engines are quite powerful and they can reach high speeds without a stutter.
Exterior
The Tata Indigo CS is a compact sedan and it stays true to its name. This is a car with a small frame- under four meters. The Indigo is essentially the Indica, but with a boot in the back. The Indigo CS is slightly smaller than the Indigo sedan itself, but other than the size, the looks are pretty much the same. It is considered the world's smallest sedan car. The exteriors of the car are quite classy- from the side and the rear. The front portion of the car could have certainly used a little bit of work, for it just makes the car look like a hatchback and not really a sedan. The car has tinted windows, body colored bumper, body colored outside rear view mirrors, chrome plated hood, demister in the rear, electronically adjustable mirrors, body colored turn mirrors, etc. The boot portion of the car is actually really small- so small that it cannot be considered a full grown sedan.
Interior
The exteriors of the car do leave something lacking, but the interiors are certainly amazing. The Tata Indigo's interior looks like the interior of a premium sedan. It has got a wonderful dual tone design and really good wood finishing as well. There is enough space for five people in the car. The car is designed in beige and it has a long dashboard as well. The instrument panel looks really good as well. The steering wheel is also beige colored and is three spoked. The instrument cluster has been given chrome plating as well. The dashboard of the car provides enough space for storing any important item. The car has enough features like cup holders, change holders, ticket holders, etc. so that people can store all their valuable things in an ergonomic way.
Features & Specifications
The car comes with a variety of features, such as the following: keyless entry, AC controls, dual air control zones, fabric options, rear cabin lamps, foldable hand rests, adjustable seats, adjustable steering wheel, clutch - to-start option, etc. The car has a variety of safety features as well- including central locking, keyless entry option, child safety locks, door open warning buzzer, seatbelt warnings, collapsible steering, etc.
The Tata Indigo CS is a car that is quite good for the money that one pays for it (Rs 4.8-6.2 lakh). It is a decent car, even if it is not the best one around.
