Central Bank of India had a very simple beginning on 21 December 1911 with just two persons in a small office by Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala and today it stands with the leading banks in India. Central Bank has introduced many new things in the industry, significant one is the employment of the first woman in the banking sector. The Central Bank of India, one of the oldest and the largest banks in India has 3967 branches, 27 extension counters, 1006 ATMs. On 9 July 1969, along with 13 other banks, the Indian Government nationalized the Central Bank of India.
