I am not a Linux guru. I have Ubuntu installed on one of my systems. It is good. What I like the most is the presence of a very strong community who is ready to patiently listen to your troubles and help you solve it. Usually it only takes a few minutes to get your query answered (which I think is very useful for you, since you are surely going to get a lot of help requests from your clients ). But recently a friend of mine suggested that OpenSuse is the best distribution and that it has a very good graphics support. I have decided to try it out sometime later.

I have Ubuntu installed on my computer. I think it is really good and easy to use. The best thing about ubuntu is that it automatically downloads the missing codecs. With windows this would have been a real headache.

From what I have heard, RedHat no longer comes with free support. You can download it from their site. But in order to download security updates, you have to buy their premium support.

Ubuntu is good and there are many versions like xubuntu, kubuntu!!!
Red hat Linux, Fedora... are other distributions.
For small netbooks Xandros Linux OS is the best

Debian is huge open Linux system... its helpful for many code developers!!!

I am hearing about Xandros for the first time.

Btw, you can get a free Unbuntu cd sent to home by registering at https://shipit.ubuntu.com/
