Preparing Children for Schooling

Schools are the first place where kids learn the lessons of social life. Going to pre-schools or kindergarten is a hard experience for most of the kids as it would be the first time of separation from parents. Having been living with the parents under the loving care of them, many kids feel thrown away from the parents amidst a group of strangers. Of course, children require time to know the new situation and adjust with the new friends and teachers. The newer routine of school and changed schedules of life may make sad and angry. It is the collective responsibility of parents and teachers to create the right environment for children to adjust with the new life and situations easily. The faster the child starts to love the school and atmosphere, the brighter he/she grows academically. There are several things parents can do before sending kids to school.

Preparing kids to go to school is a must to make children emotionally and physically fit for the academic practices. Parents should start preparations several months before sending kids to school. Start with the daily schedules. Infants and smaller kids spend most time sleeping. If your child sleeps more on day time, engage them in some interesting activates to change the habits of day time sleep. Let them sleep at night and awake at day. This will help them to be active and awake at Scholl. A sudden change of schedules on a fine day will be horrible for kids to digest. Train them gradually and make them physically and psychologically fit to the schooling. Eating habits of the children are to be taken care. In infancy, children eat multiple times a day. Stop this practice and feed them in certain intervals of day only. This will help them to feel hungry only at the designated intervals. Instead of feeding them several times a day, make them eat less frequently, but more nutritious food.

Socializing training is essential for school going child. Till the age of schooling, child is the king at home. His demands are always answered. His gestures always responded and his needs ever fulfilled. At home he/she is the one and only; but at school just one among many. This will hurt the feelings of children and make them feel unwanted. Parents should provide children with socializing tips and training. Allow children to play with kids at the neighborhood. Take them for outing once a while and mingle them with same age children. Teach them to talk to kids and behave in the proper way. If there are other kids at home, socializing is not much difficult for children, but single kids may take time to adjust themselves among other children. Teach them the importance of being social beings by frequent mingling with other kids and elder people.

Give them training on learning and other academic practices. At school they have to sit quite and attending to the teacher. Before sending them to school, make them familiar with academics tools like book, pencil, pen etc... Buy those crayons or writing tools and ask them to use them. This will familiarize kids with academic equipments and later at school; they may not find it difficult to use them. Introduce them colors, letters etc... and if possible teach them the basics of writing and drawing. Story telling is the best way of making kids sit quite and calm. Tell them stories on day time and train them to sit comfortably for an hour or so. Give them with tasks like drawing an animal looking into its picture or painting a picture. This is a basic training to actions he/she may be doing at schools. Teach them games and create interests in participating in them.

Most important is to conveying them importance of learning and the fun activities and lovable teachers and friends waiting at school. Child should never scare away from school. Instead feel it an interesting place through your descriptions. If possible make visits to the school with your child even before he/she is admitted into one. Introduce him the teachers, surroundings etc... Let him/her participate in games of children and allow them to mingle with other children. This will help them to be devoid of the fear of schooling and one or two visits will make them love the school and surroundings. Train them to use toilets, and open the Tiffin boxes and eat food. For about a month before sending them to school, give them food in Tiffin boxes. Ask them to open them alone and eat food and keep the boxes closed after eating. Teach them the lessons of washing and cleanliness too.
