Three people carrying arms and ammunition were arrested Thursday night from the Bharalumukh area here, police said, adding that the accused might be linked to a militant organisation.
A .9mm pistol, a revolver and some live ammunition were recovered from their possession, said the police. Interrogation was on to ascertain if the accused were linked to any militant outfit, policee said.
"We are trying to find out from where they procured the arms," said a police officer, who did not want to named.
Guwahati had become a major transit route for illegal arms trade originating in Dimapur (Nagaland), the officer added.
