Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Monday accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of transferring responsibility for rising prices of essential goods from the central government to states.
Speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) meet here, he described as "disappointing" and "unfortunate" the statement by the prime minister that tended to pass on the responsibility for the price rise to the states.
"It ... wants to shift the blame. The centre does not do what it should be doing and also does not appreciate the efforts we are making," he added.
