Engineers removed a World War II-era bomb from the construction site of the National Stadium in Warsaw, which is being built to open the Euro 2012 football championships, a police spokesman said Thursday.
The unexploded bomb had a diameter of some 80 centimetres and was found Wednesday afternoon by a construction digger.
The site was secured by police and engineers were called to remove the shell.
Unexploded bombs, missiles and grenades from WWII are occasionally found in Poland.
Dozens were evacuated in November after construction workers found a 500-kg explosive left over from WWII in downtown Wroclaw.
