Rs.23 crore sanctioned to upgrade security in NCR

The central government has sanctioned Rs.23 crore for upgrading security in the national capital region (NCR), particularly Delhi's suburban towns of Gurgaon and Faridabad towns in Haryana, in view of the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG).

This was disclosed at a meeting of senior Haryana officers with top officials of the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) here Tuesday. NCRPB Member Secretary Noor Mohammad and Haryana Chief Secretary Urvashi Gulati were present in the meeting.

The money has been sanctioned to upgrade security in view of the CWG to be held in New Delhi Oct 3-14.

Nearly 250 closed circuit TV cameras (CCTV) are being installed in Gurgaon and 140 in Faridabad.

The Haryana government has set up two police commissionerates in the NCR to strengthen security.
