The actress was married three times in the past- first to drug counselor Alvin Martin, which ended in 1979, then to cinematographer David Claessen which ended in 1988 and lastly to actor Lyle Trachtenberg for one year, resulting in a divorce in 1995.
After all her marriages have failed, Whoopi is certain that if she marries for a fourth time that too won't last. So, she wants her friends to stop her if she ever decides to marry again. She believes that while marriage is beautiful for a lot of people, she's not someone who's meant to be married.
