Russia took an unassailable 3-1 lead over India as Mikhail Youzhny mauled Somdev Devvarman 2-6, 1-6, 3-6 in the first reverse singles of the Davis Cup World Group first round here Sunday.
India were down 1-2 in the tie and needed to win the first reverse singles to take the match to the fifth rubber.
Now, the fifth rubber of the tie is only of academic interest.
