New Delhi, March 12

The Delhi High Court Friday granted permanent commission to women officers in all three wings of the armed forces.

A division bench comprising Justices S.K. Kaul and M.P. Garg ordered the defence forces to reinstate all the women officers who had approached the court seeking permanent commission.

In its 32-page order, the bench directed the government to reinstate those officers as well as those who retired during the case.

Today (13 march 2010) the Delhi High Court directed that equal benefits should be extended to Lady Officers without discrimination. Hooray..!! This is excellent news.

The only (ill)logic for discrimination against qualified women officers in the defense forces has been the patriarchist superiority complex of the male officers, and their fervent desire to preserve the promotion pyramid to their exclusive advantage. This judgment is a body blow to such irrational male hegemony, and creates a level playing field where the last cobweb of gender bias has been washed away from the armed forces. Their citadel of masculine privilege has no place in a modern, egalitarian, gender-equitable India.

By saying that they do not want qualified lady officers to serve a full term of permanent commission, the males have only exhibited their cowardice and incompetence. Their loss in the High Court should be cheered by all...Excellent..!!
