August 9, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Megastar Mammootty of Mollywood has bagged the best actor award from 'Jaihind TV' for the movies released in 2009. Another Malayalam star Mohanlal has won 'Chalachitra Ratna award' of the same channel. The awards were announced at a function, which was organized in Thrissur recently.
Actor Prithviraj, who debuted in 2002 with the Malayalam movie Nandanam, has been selected as the youth icon.
MM Hassan, the managing director of 'Bharat Broadcasting Network Limited', announced the name of the winners. The best director award went to Blessy and Salimkumar was honored as the best comedian. The most popular actor award went to actor Dileep and actress Lakshmi Rai.
Mammootty starrer blockbuster Pazhassi Raja has been chosen as the best film and the best script award was grabbed by Renjith.
