Union Minister of State Prithviraj Chavan will lay the foundation stone of the proposed Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in central Mumbai Saturday, an official said here Friday.
Chief Minister Ashok Chavan will preside over the function which will be held at the 1,500-square metre premises in BKC.
Currently, the CBI, with six units, has been functioning out of rented premises in different parts of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
These branches include anti-corruption, special crimes, economic offences, banking security and frauds cell, special task force and special unit.
The state government allotted the plot to CBI for its own western regional headquarters at the BKC where the integrated CBI office complex, accommodating all the six branches will come up.
Proposed to be a high-tech and eco-friendly building, the 10-storeyed complex has been built on an area of 6,836 square metres.
