Beijing, June 9

Around 90 Chinese people Thursday began a trip to North Korea, becoming the first tourists from the country to drive across the border, the China News Service reported.

A motorcade of 24 vehicles left Changchun in northeast Jilin province early morning and would arrive at China's Quanhe border port to North Korea, a tour organiser said.

The tourists, most of them entrepreneurs and travel agency officials, were headed to the North Korean border city of Rason.

They would visit some other sites and then return to Jilin June 11, officials said.
