Brothers kill sibling over land dispute in Haryana

Sirsa (Haryana), June 28

A 50-year-old man was brutally murdered by his two brothers over a land dispute in this Haryana district, police said Tuesday.

Ramji Lal was killed by his brothers in Khariyan village late Monday. The accused were identified as Laxmi Narayan and Om Parkash.

"Lal had an ancestral land of 11 acres in his village. His brothers wanted their share but he was not willing to give it," said Jagdish Joshi, investigation officer of the case.

"Late Monday, the brothers came to Lal's house to discuss the matter. They started beating him with hockey sticks and left him unconscious. He was taken to the civil hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The accused are absconding," he added.

Police have registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against the brothers and started investigation. Sirsa is 300 km from the state capital Chandigarh.
