Dark, ominous cinema tops Bollywood directors' 2008 favourite list

No year in recent memory threw forward such a scintillating slew of cinema - from the path-breaking "Rock On!" to college romance "Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na" to action-packed thriller "Ghajini". But films on terror and extremism like "A Wednesday" and "Mumbai Meri Jaan" became directors' favourite films of 2008.

Gulzar: "A Wednesday" and "Yuvvraaj".

Imtiaz Ali: "Mumbai Meri Jaan", "Oye Lucky! Lukcy Oye!" and "Rock On!".

Rakesh Roshan: "Jodhaa Akbar", "A Wednesday", "Rock On!".
