The New Zealand Press Association has closed after 132 years, a media report said.
It shut down after Fairfax Media, joint shareholder along with newspaper publisher APN, decided to pull the plug, reported tvnz.co.nz.
Labour leader Phil Goff tweeted: "NZPA's last day. They've done a great job over many years and I've enjoyed working with the many talented journalists who've worked there."
APN and Fairfax have set up their own national news bureaus while Australian news agency AAP will shortly begin a New Zealand service.
