Two Nepali women in their mid-30s were arrested with drugs worth Rs.20 lakh in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district, police said Thursday.

Vimla Giri and Pyarisa were nabbed Wednesday from Rupaidiha town, near the India-Nepal border and some 140 km from Lucknow, following a joint operation by the district police and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

"The two worked for a Nepal-based gang involved in smuggling drugs to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand and other states," police inspector Mahendra Dubey said

“They were involved in the trade for five years," he added.
