Bata India Limited, the country’s leading retailer and manufacturer of footwear, Monday declared that its net sales grew by 26.8 percent at Rs.36,998.6 lakh during the third quarter ended Sep 30, 2011 as against Rs.29,178.1 lakh in the same period last year.
According to a company release here, during this quarter the company’s profit before tax (PBT) grew by 46.2 percent at Rs.4,503.3 lakh as against Rs.3,080.3 lakh in the same period last year.
Announcing the results, Rajeev Gopalakrishnan, group managing director, Bata India Limited, said: “There has been consistent growth in our retail and non-retail businesses which has made this quarter so successful.”
The company has so far opened 106 new stores this year. These new stores are based on the new large format and are above 3,000 sq ft and are spread across metros, tier-1 and tier-2 cities.
The company said it will continue to add over 70 new stores every year and renovate the existing stores.
