Uttar Pradesh police arrest man with counterfeit currency

Police in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad town have arrested a man for allegedly circulating fake currency in the markets in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Indirapuram police arrested Nazir, a resident of Kishangarh in Mehrauli from near the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) campus late Thursday.

The police recovered counterfeit currency with the notional value of Rs.190,000 from Nazir's possession.

During his interrogation, Nazir told the police that he got the fake currency from a truck driver, Ahmad who used to bring it from Bihar.

Ahmad, too was involved in the racket and had asked Nazir to circulate the fake currency in Ghaziabad, Noida and other areas of NCR.

"We have registered a case against Nazir and are trying to find out other persons in his network," an official at Indirapuram police station said.
