Cabinet panel clears Monsoon Mission

New Delhi, April 26

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs Thursday approved the implementation of the Rs.400 crore National Monsoon Mission at the Earth System Science Organisation (ESSO) to build a partnership between academic and research organisations.

Once implemented, the National Monsoon Mission forecasts, based on this prediction system, will cater to sectors like agriculture, water resources management, power generation, disaster management, tourism and transport, said officials.

The CCEA also approved the establishment of an Integrated Vaccine Complex (IVC) at Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram district (Tamil Nadu) at an estimated cost of Rs.594 crore.

The project is likely to be completed by 2014.

The CCEA also approved extension of the Jute Technology Mission and revision in allocation of funds for better agronomic practices.
