Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani said Sunday that the biggest achievement of the country over the past six decades is that India has become a great and successful democracy.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha on the special sitting of Parliament to mark the 60th anniversary of the first sitting of the two houses, Advani said that the reason for the success of democracy in the country was respect among parties for others' ideological viewpoint.
"The biggest achievement has been that India has become a great and successful democracy. The reason for the success of democracy is the respect for opposite ideology," Advani said.
The BJP veteran hoped that solutions to problems would be found through debate.
