As many as nine people, including security personnel, were injured Wednesday in separate bomb attacks in eastern and central Iraq, said police.

In Iraq's Diyala province, a roadside bomb went off near a police patrol in the city of Jalawla, some 150 km northeast of Baghdad, injuring four policemen, Xinhua reported citing a police source.

An explosive expert of the police was injured while defusing a roadside bomb at the blast site.

In another incident, a boy was injured when a home-made bomb hidden in a garbage container detonated near his house.

In central Iraq, gunmen blew up a bomb planted at an under- construction medical centre in Baghdad's Doura district, wounding three construction workers, said an interior ministry source.
