PM discharged, returns home

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here early Sunday, a week after having undergone a coronary bypass surgery, officials said.

"The prime minister has been discharged early this morning. At 7.30 a.m. he left for his home. Now he will be convalescing at home where he will also be given physiotherapy treatment,"the prime minister's media adviser Deepak Sandhu told IANS.

"As he left, he appeared (to be) in good condition. He was walking, waving to everybody. He thanked the entire panel of doctors, who saw him off. His wife was with him," Sandhu added.

Manmohan Singh, 76, was operated upon at the AIIMS Jan 24 to remove five arterial blockages.
