Shillong, Jul 9

A member of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) was arrested from the western Meghalaya bordering Bangladesh, a BSF official said Monday

"Sergeant Ratul Pathai alias Rahul was arrested late Sunday night from Chichangpara area in West Garo Hills district," said Border Security Force (BSF) spokesman Ravi Gandhi.

Pathai had sneaked in the country from Bangladesh, he added.

"Pathai was in Bangladesh to meet senior ULFA leader Dristi Rajkowa. We are still interrogating him," the BSF spokesman said.

Meghalaya shares a 443-km border with Bangladesh, part of which is porous, hilly, unfenced and prone to frequent infiltration.
