A 55-year-old man from Poland cycled around 2,000 km across six countries to see his daughter graduate from a British university.

Jerzy Jablonska, a shopkeeper, left home in Starachowice, Poland, on a racing bike and cycled for 10 days, The Sun reported Wednesday.

He pedalled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and travelled with only his passport, cash, mobile phone and a puncture repair kit.

After crossing Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France, he took a ferry across the English Channel.

Jablonska arrived at Portsmouth University just hours before the graduation ceremony to see his 23-year-old daughter Monika awarded a Bachelor's in International Business Studies.

"I wanted to do this because I was so proud of my daughter," the proud father said.

His 50-year-old wife Ewa joined him, making the journey by car.
