35 injured in bus accident in Rajouri

At least 35 people were injured Wednesday when a bus rolled down a 300-feet gorge in mountainous Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said.

The bus was going from Manjakot, about 180 km north west of Jammu, to Rajouri town.

The police said 35 passengers were injured, five of them seriously. The injured have been shifted to a government hospital in Rajouri. The police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.

Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmed khan, expressing concern at the accident, instructed traffic authorities to take serious notice of frequent road accidents in hilly areas, which occur mainly due to overloading and rash driving.
