Srinagar, July 26

Dozens of people Thursday gathered here to denounce the ethnic riots in Assam and the killings of Muslims in Myanmar.

The protesters demanded the dismissal of the Assam government and imposition of President's rule in the state to end the bloodshed that has left about 40 people dead in Bodo-Muslim clashes.

The demonstration was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party's youth wing.

The protesters also shouted slogans against the US and Israel, and appealed to President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to mount pressure on the Myanmar regime to end killings of Muslims.

The protesters dispersed peacefully.
