Eleven wildfires put out in Russia's Far East

Forest protection service specialists have extinguished 11 wildfires in Russia’s Far East in the past 24 hours, said the local forestry department Monday.

“A total of 38 wildfires have been registered in the Far East in the past 24 hours,” the department said.

“Specialists extinguished 11 and localised four,” it said, adding that 23 fires remained to be put out.

The area covered by forest fires in the region in the past day has totalled 556 hectares.
