Kochi, Aug 8

The Kerala High Court Wednesday directed the government to ensure that the probe against former chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan's son in an alleged land deal ended in three months.

A division bench made the observation after the government submitted a report that it wanted a more detailed investigation in the case by the economic affairs wing.

The case in which V.A. Arun Kumar is allegedly involved began when the now jailed godman Swami Amritananthachaithanya wrote to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy last year claiming that he paid Rs.70 lakh to Kumar.

At that time, 2006, Achuthanandan was the chief minister. The godman is in prison on charges of rape and sexual exploitation.
