A new research has suggested eating nuts during pregnancy could reduce the risk of children developing asthma.

Contrary to common opinion, eating nuts during pregnancy is not harmful to children and could, in fact, benefit their health, Daily Express reported Wednesday.

In the study, published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, researchers examined the relation between nut intake during pregnancy and allergic disease outcomes in early and later childhood of their offspring.

The data was provided from over 61,000 women, who were part of the Danish National Birth Cohort.

Results showed mothers who ate nuts at least once a week during pregnancy were less likely to have kids suffering from asthma.
