Going against the grain of the Teachers Day spirit, the vice principal of a West Bengal school Wednesday caned seven students, causing head injuries to some of them. He was arrested, police said.
Subir Mondal, vice principal of Don Bosco School in Bandel of Hooghly district, got enraged when he saw some students of Class 4 playing with foam spray while decking up the classroom for the Teachers Day celebrations, police said.
Mondal started caning the students, injuring seven of them.
"Three of the students sustained head injuries and required several stitches. The parents of the three students lodged a complaint at the Chinsurah police station where they mentioned about the caning of four other students," said a police source.
Later, police arrested Mondal, who will be presented in a court Thursday.
