A charge sheet was filed against doctor couple Sudam and Saraswati Munde and 15 others in a Maharashtra court in connection with a female foeticide case, police said Wednesday.
"The 300-odd-page charge sheet, filed in the Parli tehsil court Monday, included the names of the doctor couple and 15 others who have also been charged for illegal abortion and female foeticide," Deputy Superintendent of Police Swati Bhor told IANS.
The doctor couple is accused of carrying out an illegal abortion May 18 on sugarcane worker Vijaymala Patekar, 30, at their hospital which resulted in her death in Parli town of Beed district, around 450 km from Mumbai.
The couple surrendered to police June 17.
They were earlier booked for running an illegal sex determination racket in 2010.
