A Delhi University athlete chased a chain snatcher while raising an alarm here and helped catch the culprit, police said Saturday.
Miranda House student Swati Goswami, in her 20s, helped a woman whose gold chain was snatched by Sajjad, 20, from a bus stop around 9 p.m. Friday in north Delhi's Hakikat Nagar.
"Sajjad, a resident of east Delhi's Usmanpur, was arrested and the gold chain was recovered from his possession," said a police officer.
"Goswami was rewarded for her work," said Deputy Commissioner of Police P. Karunakaran.
