Slovakian tennis player Martin Klizan beat Italy’s Fabio Fognini in the final of the St. Petersburg Open to win his first career title.

Third seed Klizan dispatched Fognini, seeded fourth, 6-2, 6-3 in his first ATP final Sunday.

Fognini, 25, was playing in his second final after losing to Gilles Simon in Bucharest while he was recovering from injury in April.

Klizan, 23, upset top seed Mikhail Youzhny 6-7(11), 6-4, 7-6(3) in their semifinal Saturday.
