Chandigarh beat Assam 23-0 in junior national women's hockey

Manjeet Rawal and Karishma Singh scored eight goals each as Chandigarh raced to a 23-0 win against Assam in their opening Pool C league game of the second Hockey India Junior Women's National Championship at the Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai Monday.

Karishma Singh secured a double hat-trick while Manjeet Rawal notched up a hat-trick herself.

In a Pool A game, Mizoram beat Andhra Pradesh 2-1. Lalhlunmawii scored for Mizoram in the 35th and 63rd minute after Avani Nattha had put Andhra Pradesh ahead in the 13th minute.

In Pool G, Punjab registered a 2-1 victory over Sports Authority of India (SAI) Bhopal.

Punjab led 1-0 in the first half through a fourth-minute field goal by Anu Bala. SAI Bhopal levelled in the 45th minute through Pragya Mourya but eight minutes later Kulwinder Kaur scored the winning goal for Punjab.

Uttarakhand beat Bengal 1-0 in another Pool G match.

Results:

Pool A: Mizoram 2 (Lalhlunmawii 2) beat Andhra Pradesh 1 (Avani Nattha).

Pool C: Kerala 4 (Sooryalekshmi K.S. 2, Mathulya T, Suchithra C) beat Bihar 1 (Aprajita Singh); Chandigarh 23 (Manjeet Rawal 8, Karishma Singh 8, Saroj 2, Hardeep Kaur 2, Navpreet Kaur 2, Manpreet Kaur) beat Assam 0.

Pool G: Punjab 2 (Anu Bala, Kulwinder Kaur) beat SAI Bhopal 1 (Pragya Mourya). Uttarakhand 1 (Kavita Bisht 1) beat Bengal 0.
