Sporting director Klaus Allofs left Werder Bremen after 13 years to join football league rivals Wolfsburg with immediate effect for the same position, both sides confirmed on their websites.
After long back and forth, Klaus Allofs finally joined Wolfsburg that was in search of a new sporting director following the dismissal of coach and sporting director Felix Magath, reports Xinhua.
"We are delighted to have won over our desired candidate Klaus Allofs as new sport manager at Wolfsburg," said Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, chairman of the club's supervisory board and member of the executive committee, in an official statement Thursday.
55-year-old Allofs joined the "Wolves" on a four-year deal. The 2009 Bundesliga champions back on track as they are sitting on 16th position, far away from international competitions.
"With my move to Wolfsburg 13 important years come to an end. During this period there had been other offers that never played a role, but now the time has come to seek new challenges," Allofs said
During his 13 years at Bremen, Allofs had won numerous titles, including the double in 2004 and the German Cup in 2009.
