Bhupathi-Knowles ousted from Dubai tennis

The Indian challenge at the Dubai Tennis Championship has come to an end with Mahesh Bhupathi and his Bahamas partner Mark Knowles losing to South African Rik De Voest and Russian Dmitry Tursunov in the quarter-final.

The second seeded Bhupati-Knowles pair came close in the first set but later fizzled out to lose 6-7(4), 2-6 here Thursday.

De Voest and Tursunov will next play Spain's David Ferrer and Russian Marat Safin, who rallied from a set behind to beat South African pair Jeff Coetzee and Wesley Moodie 5-7, 6-4, 12-10.

Leander Paes and his Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy and Prakash Amritraj and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan have already bowed out after their first round matches.
