Somdev Devvarman won the first singles while Rohan Bopanna lost the second as India were levelled 1-1 with Chinese Taipei after the opening day's play in the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group I tie here Friday.
Somdev beat Ti Chen 7-5, 6-4, 6-4 while Bopanna went down 6-7, 2-6, 2-6 to Lu Yen-hsun.
