Three people have been killed by suspected Maoist rebels in a Bihar village, police said Tuesday.

The incident took place when armed Maoist guerrillas attacked Khaira village of Lakhisarai district late Monday night.

"Three people were killed by Maoist guerrillas. The attack was in retaliation to the killing of a Maoist rebel by the villagers," Additional Director General (police headquarters) Neelmani said.

Maoist Ravidas was beaten to death by villagers on Holi last week.
