New Delhi, April 23

Although temperature rose a little more than the day before, Delhiites nevertheless heaved a sigh of relief Thursday as the heat wave condition subsided.

"After a heat wave condition, temperatures have more or less normalised. The maximum temperature recorded today was 37.6 degree Celsius which is a notch above normal. It will mostly be clear skies in the coming days," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The maximum temperature recorded Wednesday was 37.1 degree Celsius.

Aashima Jain, a student, said: "Although it's still hot, it's still a relief that hot winds are no longer blowing. It was becoming almost impossible to step out of the house even with an umbrella. Minus the heat wave, the weather is still tolerable".

The minimum temperature recorded early Thursday was 23.7 degree Celsius - two degrees above normal.
